Stockbridge Road closures.
Sutton Scotney residents have given their views on mains drainage & Stockbridge Rd closures. Jackie has carried out a door survey and thanks residents for their replies. Too often it is the silent majority who don’t get a say’ says Jackie. ‘I want to hear everyone’s views before we press on with these proposals’,
Stoke Charity Bridge
Stoke Charity Road/Rail Bridge was judged a risk after two accidents, but the pending decision about altering it to accommodate larger freight had left residents with an unsightly mess. Jackie sought improvements and after pressing for nearly two years, the safety work has been done at last, including improvements to the road surface and drainage by the farm. The bridge works are temporary until the decision to raise the rail bridge has been made.
The Back Road
The Back Road will be resurfaced this year, after being delayed due to the tipping site.. Fellow Councillor Charlotte Bailey and Jackie walked the road with HCC officer in Jan 2009 to identify formal passing places, serious breakdowns in the surface, and places where the ‘old road ‘ width needs to be restored. All residents want to see this road restored back to pre- Drove tipping size ‘says Jackie, ‘so we have asked HCC to achieve this in the extensive works there this Summer It will necessitate road closures but hopefully the finished result wil be worth it.’
