The Local Area Design Statement gives weight to arguments against development at 155, Springvale Road . A City Council proposal to sell land to the developer to make up a shortfall of funds has fallen foul of planning rules. Tory councillors tried to use the sale of Council House land within the proposal to make up the shortfall in the Housing Account, but under the Liberal Democrats, a Design statement was written for Headbourne Worthy to ensure the quality of developments there as parcels of land became available . It stresses the importance of tree cover on the hill, and open space within developments, restricting buildings to below three storeys. So, the area was protected – our thanks to Robert Johnston, but especially Stevie Simkin and Ian Gordon who opposed the application at Planning committee.
Kings Worthy School given a real boost as it beats the squeeze with a fabulous new extension-picture with Stash?

The new speed limit has arrived at last. You told me that you wanted 30 in your village: I asked the County Council to resolve the mixture of speeds in the village in 2005, and at last, the new limits throughout Headbourne Worthy are in place.
Headbourne Worthy has turned to thirty!
The Parish Council has been sent bin stickers for you to use, but the thirty part of the design isn’t easily seen. I have complained to the Executive member that the bin design isn’t clear enough and meanwhile I have arranged for an alternative. So, there are additional 30 roundels (smaller than regulation size) to stick on your bin to make it more obvious to drivers. You can contact me for these- I will pop them round to you.
And please let me know if you think the lit signs are a good idea- your Parish Council can purchase a share in one for your village and I (and I am sure they) would welcome your views.
