Earlier Monthly Reports
Under the stars this month:
Many of us are showing our support for the homeless and needy in our city: sleeping out under the stars to raise money for the Winchester Churches Nightshelter and Trinity Day Centre - you may have seen the fabulous new Trinity building at the Durngate, Winchester.
As I write, I am off to buy a sleeping bag, mindful that it is a very soft option - those who are homeless don't have such protection from the elements, but the Nightshelter can usually provide for those who are sober, and Trinity offers daytime medical care, activities and advice.
The Glade Festival at Matterley Bowl
In July revellers will dance out under the stars at festival. I have contacted HCC to ask that road closure signs, usually set up a few days before, will be at the entrance to A31 feeder roads this time, not at the exits, so drivers don't have to turn back after the long drive down narrow roads out to the A31.
Intech
Have you been to see the show at Intech's planetarium yet? The reclining seats tip you skyward to watch the stars unfolding above your head. There are shows now and during the Summer holidays, and the 64X and 67 buses stop there. You can find out more from www.intech-uk.com or call 01962 863 791.
On the Buses
Three ladies were stars of the show at the recent Public transport meeting in Alresford- saying how much they appreciated the CANGO ( Call and Go) bus service - all ages can book the bus to take you anywhere in the area, including the Shops and Leisure centres at Alton, and Basingstoke or into Alresford - for more information phone 0845 602 4135 to register or go to the website . The website isn't brilliant - so please contact me if you don't understand how it works!
Larkwhistle Farm
Parishioners were shown new plans for the Stagetruck site at Larkwhistle Farm Road, Micheldever last month - their plans for the site are ambitious, including a scene building ‘warehouse'. The company produces and transports stage sets for the stars, (for example Robbie Williams). Stagetruck expects to submit these plans to WCC soon.
Grange Opera
Visitors to the Grange will see stars as opera season gets underway. Residents have asked that more speed enforcement is carried out on these delivery/stage lorries. I have asked if HCC Accredited Community Safety Officers could help to police this.
Countrywatch
Is your property or land at risk under the stars or during the day? Contact Chief Inspector Farrell to join Countrywatch. Many landowners and gamekeepers have done so already: it is proving to be an effective early warning mechanism. I can provide more details on request
