Kiln Lane Playground

On a recent visit to Kiln Lane I was concerned about the condition of the playground. Residents have also talked about the playground with me.

I raised the point at the Parish Council meeting on Thursday October 30th and talked to A2 Dominion, both of whom have responsibilities for the playground and the footpaths leading to it.

My intention is to encourage both parties to make changes to their routines to ensure that the footpaths and playground are maintained in a better condition from now on.

What do you think about the playground? Does your family use it? Are there any specific points you would like to me to make?

Please let me know and I will include your points in the discussions.

I have also asked for the kerbing work, carried out by Amey under contract to Hampshire County Council, to be finished promptly and the temporary fencing removed as quickly as possible.

30 mph Finally Agreed

The 30 mph limit extension in Old Alresford has at last been agreed at HCC. The extension takes effect from the 12th September 2008.

30mph agreedJackie is pleased that the 30mph limit extension has happened but is still furious at the amount of time this has taken. Despite continued discussions between Old Alresford and HCC there still is no commitment to a traffic-calming scheme, such as change of priority, etc. to slow the traffic down.

What do you think? Should there be a change of priority at Kiln Lane? Should there be a lit reminder sign?

In August I am meeting with the officers at the county to see if a light-up sign can be purchased between a group of villages so that it can be there for more of the time. There is evidence that these signs work better when they are there intermittently, not continuously, because of the element of surprise!

Meanwhile please look out for your bin sticker, and other publicity, and keep to 30!
